Join us for an unforgettable day of exploration starting with a morning pickup from your hotel in Huaraz. We’ll embark on a scenic drive through Huascaran National Park, passing charming Andean villages where we can catch glimpses of local shepherds and farmers tending to their fields using traditional methods. The journey offers splendid views of the majestic Huascarán mountain.
Once we arrive at the starting point in the Shonquil Valley, we’ll begin our hike along an almost flat path, gradually ascending in switchbacks parallel to the Chucchún River. Our destination is the remarkable Rajupaquinán lake (4,110m. /13,484ft.), located at the foot of Mount Hualcan (6,104m. / 20,026ft.) in the Santa River basin. This glacier lake, known as Laguna 513, is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the Cordillera Blanca. Its strategic location beneath Hualcan mountain lends it an intense blue reflection in its waters.
We’ll find a picturesque spot along the lakeshore to enjoy a delicious lunch while capturing panoramic pictures. Afterward, we’ll retrace our steps back to the Shonquil Valley, where our transportation will be waiting to drive you back to our hotel in Huaraz.
